Winter Sports

Teachers in Charge: Mr Horne and Mr Reweti

Information: Each year we take students away on trips to ski fields around New Zealand. Students are provided with lessons regardless of skill level and then spend the rest of the time being taught by teachers and highly competent students. In 2016, we are travelling to Temple Basin ski field, Arthurs Pass for a whole week of instruction, skiing / snowboarding and an avalanche safety course. In the past we have held our trips at Mt Ruapehu, focussing on the Turoa side of the mountain. Beginners are welcome and lessons are provided to bring you up to speed.

Teams: Snowboarding and Skiing

Competitions: To be confirmed if there is sufficient interest in competing in the AKSS or NISS events.

Equipment: Students are required to have their own skis/snowboards or hire them at the ski fields. Very warm clothing is required due to changeable mountain conditions.

Registrations: During Term 1 each year there are meetings held to find out student interest. Depending upon the numbers involved we decide on the trip(s) for the year.

Costs: TBC each year. Indicative price for Mt Ruapehu trips is $300-400 each trip and Temple Basin is $1000.
